    This 1st half-day session focuses on the evolution and social impact of wind turbines. Also you will analyze the essential components of a wind turbine.

    First, the social and political aspects of the offshore wind industry. Then, an explanation of parts in the wind turbine and how a wind turbine can generate energy followed by different types of support structures and the electrical infrastructure of an offshore wind farm.

    2. Interactive lecture: Societal and political aspects involved in the development of offshore wind farms,

    3. Interactive lecture: Fundamental principles of electricity and how it is generated,

    4. hands-on case: Visualization of electricity generation in an offshore wind turbine,

    5. Interactive lecture: Offshore power networks for wind farms, 

    6. Interactive lecture: Technical and economical trade-offs between different network designs, 

    7. Assignment: Exam & evaluation,

    • This course is developed for newcomers in the offshore wind industry and others interested in the sector, that do not have a technical educational background.

    Prerequisites: No prior knowledge or technical background is required.

    This course consists of 2 half-day, instructor-led live sessions which consists of presentations, demonstrations and discussions of questions. During these sessions you are asked to participate actively and have your webcam and microphone on. Participants can ask questions to the instructor which are answered and discussed with all participants.

    DOB-box
    In preparation for this course, you receive a DOB-box at home (or your office). This DOB-box contains useful documents, like the course manual and items required for hands-on cases, and it includes a surprise.

    Access to the course
    After your purchase is confirmed you receive an account to the EngineeringTrainer online learning portal, where you find the course welcome chapter and instructions on how to join the live sessions. Sessions are held using the software Zoom and a log-in link is provided for each session through the portal. A test link is provided from the start such as to test if you are able to properly join the sessions prior to the first session. Live sessions can be joined using any device, including tabled and mobile. 

    You receive 1-year unlimited access to the online course. This allows you to watch content again if this is beneficial for your work projects.

    No technical software is used in this course.

    If your computer and internet connection is able to participate in live video calls you will be able to participate in this course. Live sessions are provided by means of Zoom. Required hardware include a webcam and microphone.

    Note that almost all browsers are supported, except for Internet Explorer.

    Yes, this course qualifies for PDH hours as per the NCEES CPC Guidelines.
