About Dr Magdy Girgis

Magdy has more than 35 years of international experience in Operations, and Central Engineering support to project teams and assets in materials selection, corrosion engineering & management, inspection, troubleshooting and integrity assessment in upstream oil and gas production. This experience was accumulated whilst working at several oil production and services companies: BJ Services, Core Laboratories, Shell Canada, Petroleum Development of Oman (PDO), Qatar Gas, and the ETSA program with KOC.

He is experienced in preparing & updating company standards and procedures for corrosion management, metallic & non-metallic materials, and laboratory testing, and in leading company audits of manufacturers and service providers. Magdy has been a key member of teams responsible for the development of conceptual materials selection for sour gas and EOR steam flood in Canada and the Gulf. He also played a key role in the team that carried out materials selection for the CO2 injection program in Alberta.

Magdy enjoys sharing his knowledge with fellow engineers through training courses and teaching at Canadian universities.
