Airworthiness authorities (EASA, FAA) have very strict regulations on the certification of aircraft. With respect to structural design the concept of fatigue & damage tolerance (F&DT) forms a key part.

In this training course participants will learn about the design and safety concepts in aerospace and how they have evolved to form the current regulations on fatigue & damage tolerance (F&DT). The regulations and the corresponding means of compliance are explained, and it is shown how compliance with the regulations can be achieved. In the continued airworthiness section of the course, the aspects of F&DT related to maintenance, repair and modifications will be explained. The course concludes with a detailed description of historical examples of fatigue failures in aerospace.

The course consists of 90mins of online modules based on video content. All training content is provided through your EngineeringTrainer account.

After the course you maintain 1-year unlimited access to the course, including any new course material. This allows you to perform modules again when you need to refresh the knowledge for your projects.

Please note, the mechanisms of fatigue initiation and crack growth itself will not be explained in depth in this course. Those looking for a detailed understanding of these mechanisms should refer to the "Essentials of Metal Fatigue" course.
