Quotation for your TeamAbout the course
The PED (Pressure Equipment Directive) is part of the European Union’s legislative framework aimed at harmonising requirements for the design, manufacture and conformity assessment of pressure equipment and assemblies with a maximum allowable pressure (PS) greater than 0.5 barg. Economic operators (manufacturers, importers and distributors) need to be aware of their responsibilities and how to fulfil them.
This instructor led training course will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of the PED. The course starts by explaining the legal status, responsibilities of economic operators, and the scope and exclusions from the PED. It will be explained how to categorise an assembly, what the essential safety requirements are and the conformity assessment procedures.
The course will then focus on the role of standards (both harmonised EN standards and non-harmonised standards such as the ASME VIII) in achieving compliance for materials, permanent joining, NDT and ultimately pressure equipment products. To conclude participants will be given practical guidance on how to ensure your product/project fulfils the legal requirements
The course consists of 6 online live sessions with the instructors. All training content is provided through your EngineeringTrainer account.

Learning Outcomes
After this course, you...• have a solid understanding of the legal context PED and the rationale of why we need the PED,
• are familiar with the fundamental objectives and principles of the PED and it's application in the EEA & UK,
• understand the role of harmonised EU standards and non• harmonised standards, such as ASME VIII, in supporting compliance,
• have seen the typical challenges that can arise in PED compliance and practical tools for managing them,
• be familiar with the Essential Safety Requirements and the Conformity Assessment Procedures in the PED,
• have the skills to assist in ensuring that the PED is being followed in your upcoming products and projects.
