Masterclass: Satisfying the EU Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) for ASME B31.3

€ 45.00

About the course

The Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) provides a set of rules and processes which are compulsory for the design, manufacturing and trade of pressurized equipment used within the European Economic Area (EEA). How should the most widely used piping design code ASME B31.3 be used within the EEA, what extra criteria must be applied to ensure that the ASME B31.3 design systems conform to the PED.

In this live instructor led session you will be taken through the PED safety requirements in B31.3 Appendix N. By referring to the PED and harmonized codes such as the EN 13480 it will be shown, with the use of examples, what provisions are required on the factors and allowable stresses in ASME B31.3, and how your stress analysis results may be affected. In addition to this the use and application of ASME B31J within the EN 13480 code framework will be explained.

Learning Outcomes

After this live masterclass you,
• know how ASME B31.3 design limits need to modified when conforming to PED
• familiar with the PED safety requirements in B31.3 Appendix N
• have seen an example of using the ASME B31.3 within the PED framework
• understand how to use ASME B31J SIF values within an EN 13480 stress analysis
• have been able to engage in discussions with an experienced engineer with indepth knowledge of using the ASME B31.3 with the PED framework.

Who should attend this course

Those involved in piping projects where PED compliance needed and the ASME B31.3 design code is being used:
• Engineers
• Engineering Managers
• Manufacturing Managers
• Project Managers

Prerequisites

Familiarity with basic techniques and processes involved in pressure equipment design and manufacture
