Thermal Monitoring of Steam Turbines
Why take this course?
This self-paced course explains the approach used for thermal monitoring in industrial steam turbines to ensure reliable operation. You’ll learn where thermocouples are placed and how these are used as inputs for Thermal Stress Evaluation (TSE) and the Control System. Typical issues due to casing deformation will be shown and how the role of the accelerated cooling system. To close how to design to avoid stresses on the supporting and nozzles due to thermal expansion is explained. This course is formed of video lectures and on completion all participants received a certificate with PDH credits.
What you'll learn
After this course, you,
• understand the role and function of thermal monitoring in a steam turbine,
• can identify the main thermal monitoring components, including thermocouples, casing, and nozzle loads,
• know how temperature measurements and control ensure safe turbine operation,
• understand thermal stress evaluation (TSE) and differential thermal expansion,
• can explain the turbine accelerated cooling system and supporting clearances,
• are familiar with temperature control modes and the process for evaluating thermal stresses.
